Dear clients,
On today's date, August 18, 2022, the mandatory issuance of a physical visa for Brazilians citizens for entering Mexico on a visit basis (tourism or business) will come into effect.
This measure had already been studied since the end of 2021, when electronic authorization was instituted. According to the Mexican government, “these actions seek to strengthen safe, orderly and regular migration”.
In practice, since the end of June, many Brazilians were already facing difficulties in issuing this electronic authorization. As of today, however, the issuance of visas through the consular representations of Mexico in Brazil becomes official.
It is important to note that Brazilian citizens who already have the following documents will not be required to issue a Mexican visa:
a) Document proving permanent residence in Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain, and Northern Ireland, any countries of the Schengen Area, as well as the member countries of the Pacific Alliance; or
b) Valid and current visa from Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain, and Northern Ireland or any countries of the Schengen Area.
